Who we are

Glenalbyn Masters Swimming Club has about 150 members and is affliated to Swim Ireland. It was based at Glenalbyn Pool in Stillorgan, Co Dublin but the pool has now closed for redevelopment. In the meantime the Club remains fully operational and has regular training sessions in UCD Sports Centre.

The Club is a Masters Club meaning that it caters for people from 19 up to 90, or beyond, rather than for younger swimmers. (There is a separate Glenalbyn Swimming Club that caters for those under 19.) Our members compete both in galas and sea races. The Club has elite swimmers who travel to European and even World Masters events, some of whom hold Irish masters record times. It also has a long tradition of participation in sea races and is consistently near the top of the rankings in the Leinster Open Sea races.

Many members have no ambitions to win medals but are happy to just compete or simply train to keep fit while other members also swim in the sea at Seapoint, Sandycove and the Forty Foot throughout the year.

The Club caters for competent swimmers of all speeds whether fast or slow but who are comfortable swimming out of their depth. New members are always welcome.
